WW2 Rationing and Cooking for Victory: a fair share for all

8 January 2024 @ 19:30 - 21:00

Speaker: Karen Wiles

Karen explores why rationing was necessary in WW2, how the rationing system worked, what was on ration and what foods were off ration. She talks about some of the surprising things the Ministry of Food tried to get people to eat, the Dig for Victory campaign and how people keeping chickens, rabbits and pigs in their back gardens helped keep the country going. Karen and her husband Bret are based in Oxfordshire and share a keen interest in the Home Front in WW2.

Non-members welcome – a donation of £3.00 towards the meeting costs would be appreciated.

Doors open at 7 pm
